Gostek (pronounced goh-stehck) is an informal Polish word that translates to guy or bloke. It's how the game refers to the playable soldier character that you can customize.

The same name was present in the first Soldat, made by the same developer MM, who is from Poland.

Hitboxes

The gostek's hitbox is divided into multiple parts — head, torso, legs — and each can have a different damage multiplier. Intuitively, headshots cause the most damage, while hits to the leg hurt less.

Depending on your weapon and the current game's weapon mod, this can mean a difference of multiple hits needed to kill the enemy. A close range Spas-12 shot, with all pellets hitting the head, can eliminate the enemy in one click. And while Dragunov is able to kill with two hits, more than two are needed if you're only shooting the enemy in the leg.

Weapons

Your character can carry two weapons and multiple grenades. The current weapon can be switched, with grenades always being available to throw.

If you have no weapons, you can still deal damage by bare fists and headbutts — diving into the enemy head-first, fast, while prone.

Movement

Mastery of movement is required to stay alive. The gostek can use a variety of jumps, rolls, slides and flips to scale the map and outmaneuver the enemy.

More information on the Movement page.

Customization

In the game's menu, clicking on "Gostek" tab opens the customization view.

You can change your nickname, the gostek's colors, style and jet trails.
